Politicalyssa
Alyssa, now eleven, has made her entrance into the world of politics. She ran for class president at her school last week. She made all kinds of snazzy posters for her campaign.
On Thursday of this week she gave a wonderful speech at her school in front of 3rd-5th graders, faculty/staff and a few parents. I was lucky enough to be a member of the audience. Even though she came to me beforehand and was shaking she was so nervous, she was very poised and confident in the delivery of her speech. She did a stellar job.
In the end she lost the presidential election by a mere 15 votes. There were a dozen or so candidates and apparently she came in third place. Not bad for a Yankee newcomer!
I apologize for the crummy photo. I worked late (early) the night before and in my pre-Starbucks stupor I didn’t remember an actual camera. In a pinch I turned to my camera phone and you can see how well that worked.
