Like, ouch.
Our dodgeballing on August 1st was really quite good. We won more games than we lost, but in the end we didn’t have the points to pull out the victory. But overall, we played the game with confidence and style.
The experience Wednesday of this week (August 8th), was not so good. In fact, it was all bad. Bad-bad. We only scored one point the entire night. We lost all of our dodgeball mojo. But I was by far the most useless. In fact, my teammates started calling me “First Guy Out Jay”. Funny.
I was no Peter LaFleur last week, but I was at least Steve the Pirate caliber. Wait, there’s a guy on our team who dresses like a pirate? But this week, whew.
As if an evening of perpetual defeat wasn’t bad enough, I woke up the next day with a very sore lower back. Apparently the fact that I went directly from the car to our first game without stretching, warming up, or anything, didn’t bode well with my back parts. As the day progressed the pain increased, until I could no longer sit at my desk without being in a tremendous amount of pain.
This morning, I woke up and could not get out of bed. It literally took me ten minutes or so to work my way out of bed and shuffle downstairs. I ended up staying home from work. The only way that I could find relief was to lay flat in bed, which I spent most of the day doing. I’m now waiting for the next round of Ibuprophen to kick in and take the edge off.
I’m hoping for a speedy recovery, but either way I know that I won’t be playing this Wednesday night. Dodgeball injury. Oh the shame.
